The app is awful, and all you need to do to find out is look up EcTri on the app store, it's the one with the green background, rated 1.8 stars.
The app is extremely unintuitive, only translated from Chinese enough to function and doesn't automatically do ANYTHING.
The heart rate monitoring is on a manual toggle that you need to switch on any time you want to monitor, and it only stays on for 30 minutes. The app also demands that you have location services on, constantly requests access to your contacts, phone calls, camera, gallery, and more.
The 'gesture controls' basically don't work, and seem to only extend as far as tapping on a surface. Their how-to video is extremely poor information-wise, so if there's more to it, I have no idea. All it could do on my phone was lower media volume, and trigger (their app, not the native one!) picture taking.
I cannot speak to the accuracy of the metric tracking, as I didn't want to deal with the crappy app any longer than necessary, and intend to return this thing ASAP.
Do not buy this ring. The 300-400 dollar options are way too freaking expensive, but apparently 70-80 is too good to be true, despite these containing way less than a smart watch.
